Is Justice Possible?: The Elusive Pursuit of What is Right
Why is justice so hard to come by?

The innocent are convicted. The guilty get away. The scales tip toward the powerful, while the weak remain oppressed.

If our world is so sophisticated, why is there so much injustice? What can believers do? Can we ever expect justice? Dr. Paul Nyquist, president of Moody Bible Institute, addresses these questions and more in his new book, Is Justice Possible?

In four parts he considers:

Biblical and theological foundations of justice
Obstacles to justice in human society
Practical steps for pursuing justice in political, personal, and public arenas
The hope of true justice upon Christ’s return

As police shootings and wrongful incarcerations raise increasing questions in the minds of Christians, Is Justice Possible? will seek to provide answers and establish biblical expectations.

At its core, this is a book about an attribute of God. Rather than rely on our own ideas of justice, we must look to the One who made us and embodies justice perfectly. Only then can we pursue justice in purposeful, effective, eternal ways.

Senate Should Confirm Neil Gorshuch
This week, the Supreme Court confirmation hearings before the Senate Judiciary Committee for Judge Neil Gorsuch of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit represent a critical time for the Supreme Court and our nation.

Judge Gorsuch is exceedingly qualified to fill the seat of the late Justice Antonin Scalia on the Supreme Court. Judge Gorsuch embraces the Constitution and the rule of law. Obstructionists are vowing to oppose this nominee because of his conservative judicial philosophy. It is time for this confirmation process to move forward, and we’re calling on the Senate to confirm Judge Gorsuch without delay.

As the confirmation hearings begin, we are taking direct action on Capitol Hill and on the airwaves this week to communicate one simple message – Judge Gorsuch must be swiftly confirmed.
Neil Gorsuch and Elites
Judge Neil Gorsuch’s performance before the Senate has been very encouraging. His knowledge, training and intellectual rigor put the demagogic Democrats to shame. So far he seems like a worthy heir to Antonin Scalia. Let’s hope that America watches these hearings and learns that there is a strong and substantive intellectual case for respecting the Constitution as it was written.

And let’s be thankful for a moment for the existence of Christian or pro-Christian elites. It’s a gravely endangered species, as ruthlessly hunted and rare as white rhinos or tigers, and arguably even more important.
Populism Is Great, But It’s Not Enough

I have written quite a bit in defense of the impulse behind today’s populism, both in Europe and America. Donald Trump’s victory in the primaries over “made man” Jeb Bush, wunderkind Marco Rubio, and self-made legal genius Ted Cruz (among others) was stunning. His defeat of Hillary Clinton was nothing less, I think, than divine intervention. It gave our country what might be its last chance to step back from the brink.
