On the show today, actress, Mary Jean “MJ” Bentley and co-star, executive producer and investor Howard Porter join Kerby in-studio. They tell us more about one of the most compelling films this summer, Gallows Road which is the story of an unthinkable crime that changes the lives of two men forever – turning one from the light while speeding the other towards darkness.
Her acting career includes appearances in numerous national commercials and several major motion pictures, most recently; Gallows Road starring Ernie Hudson and Kevin Sorbo, The Secrets of Jonathan Sperry, starring Gavin MacLeod; Noah’s Ark, The New Beginning starring Michael Keaton, Jason Lee and Marcia Gay Harden, The Last Castle starring James Gandolfini, Mark Ruffalo and Robert Redford, We Were Soldiers starring Mel Gibson, Sweet Home Alabama starring Reese Witherspoon and the Grand Jury winner at the Sundance Film Festival, Forty Shades of Blue starring Rip Torn.
She currently co-writes with many of the leading songwriters of today with songs chosen for film scores and featured on the cover of Cornerstone Connection.
Prior to embarking on an entertainment career full time and after receiving her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from George Mason University, MJ served 9 years as an officer in the United States Navy Nurse Corp. She is active in her local Screen Actors Guild chapter as a committee member of Professional Actors Career Training (Pro ACT), on the Producer’s Committee and was the Co-Chairman of the 75th Anniversary Celebration for the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) in Dallas, Texas. MJ is also a member of Women In Film (WIF), Texas Motion Picture Alliance (TXMPA) and of The Academy of Country Music (ACM). She resides in Fort Worth, Texas with her husband, Kevin, and two young children and is represented by The Kim Dawson Agency.
Mr. Porter is a very passionate member of the Texas community and is inspired to reach others through his inspirational faith-based family films.
