Protecting our Pharmaceutical Supply Chain

Xie Wen assigns work to colleagues in Wuhan laboratory

Did you know that the majority of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) for drugs in the U.S. come from China? That means China controls the ingredients needed to make medicine that millions of Americans depend on daily — and it has the power to keep those ingredients from Americans. Its state-run media agency already noted that the U.S. “will be caught in the ocean of viruses” if Beijing decides to cut off our pharmaceutical supply.

Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) is introducing the Protecting our Pharmaceutical Supply Chain From China Act. If passed, this piece of legislation will help to ensure that Americans’ health and wellbeing are not at the mercy of the Chinese government.
