Ben Carson – VP Candidate?

When Dr. Ben Carson took the stage at the 2013 National Prayer Breakfast, few would have guessed the prominent pediatric neurosurgeon from Johns Hopkins would be running for president just a few years later. His now famous—or infamous, depending on which side of the aisle you sit—bludgeoning of the Affordable Care Act, the Obama administration’s signature law, almost instantly went viral and put Carson on U.S. conservatives’ radar.

The newly anointed Tea Party hero presents a rare and exceptional mix of character, poise, and dazzling intelligence, all alongside a passionate Christian faith and love for the Constitution. It’s not surprising then to expect many conservatives to support Carson in the coming Republican primaries.

But despite his tremendous charisma, brilliance, and compassion, this rags-to-riches story is unlikely to end with a 2016 presidential nomination, and almost certainly not in the White House—at least not yet.

Carson is a real political novice. He’s never held an elected office at any level, which may be why the otherwise savvy doctor has already found himself in several small controversies during his short stint on the national stage.Read More
