Unless you’ve been living under a rock, or hanging out in the White House with nothing to do, you no doubt have heard about President Obama’s conspicuous absence at yesterday’s Paris peace march. After all, there were over 40 world leaders in attendance but nary a White House bigwig in site.
Well, the Obama team has admitted their mistake, although with some caveats:
“‘I think it’s fair to say that we should have sent someone with a higher profile to be there,’ White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest told CNN.”
As far as Obama himself, Earnest blamed the hassle of arranging a modern security detail. With planning beginning just 36 hours before the event, there just wasn’t enough time to handle all of that “onerous and significant” work, he said.
