Shane Pruitt and his wife, Kasi, live near Dallas, Texas, with their five children. Pruitt has been in ministry for more than 17 years as a denominational leader, church planter, and traveling communicator. He holds a B.S. in biblical studies and a PhD in Christian counseling. Shane serves as Director of Evangelism for the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention. A popular blogger, Pruitt has written for Relevant, Christianity Today, the Christian Post, ChurchLeaders.com and other online journals. A video showing their children celebrating the surprise arrival of one of their adopted siblings went viral and the story was covered on ABC News and Inside Edition, as well as many other media outlets.

Girien (pronounced “Gideon”) Salazar serves as the Director of the Faith and Education Coalition for the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference (NHCLC). Prior to serving in this capacity, Girien taught English in Mexico, served as a member of the Naval Reserves including two deployments, and worked as Associate Professor for Latin American Bible Institute in San Antonio, TX. He is a board member for the Latin American Heritage Society, and a former community liaison for Grace Tabernacle Church and former city official for San Antonio Parks and Recreation. He is a licensed minister with the Assemblies of God, teaches and preaches at El Tabernáculo Church in Houston, TX, and is a third-year PhD student in Leadership Studies at Dallas Baptist University. Girien holds a B.S. in Church Ministry and a M.A. in Theological Studies from Southwestern Assemblies of God University.

The National Hispanic Education Summit brings together faith and university leaders from around the nation to give universities and colleges the necessary skills and information to successfully recruit, retain, and graduate Hispanic students and to provide the Hispanic faith community with tools and resources to effectively foster the spiritual and academic growth of students in their churches.

This year marks the 10-year anniversary of the National Hispanic Education Summit and the theme for this year is Commitment from the Boardroom to the Classroom: Advancing University and Faith Community Practices for Hispanic College Completion.
