After announcing on April 19 that it "welcome[s] transgender team members and guests to use the restroom or fitting room facility that corresponds with their gender identity," Target faced an instant and broad public backlash that led to a boycott petition being posted online by the American Family Association the next day.
The petition currently has 1.24 million supporters, and undoubtedly a much larger share of the public disagrees with Target's policy.
Evangelist Franklin Graham issued a strong rebuke of the Obama administration’s recent decision to direct public schools to permit transgender students to use the bathroom that corresponds their gender identity, asking whether Obama believes he’s “the sultan of Washington.”
“Who does President Barack Obama think he is? The sultan of Washington?” Graham wrote on his Facebook page. “Does he think he can just make a ‘decree’ and we will bow down and simply obey?”
The Christian leader, who is president and CEO of Samaritan’s Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, went on to say that he believes that the directive ignores the protection and privacy of other students, likening it to “discrimination” and claiming that the provision “opens up bathrooms to sexual predators and perverts.”
As the issue of the rights of transgender people comes more to the foreground, schools across the U.S. have been confronted with a new issue: how to handle gender-specific bathrooms and locker rooms.
A state law passed in California allowing transgender students to use the bathroom of their choice, while some school districts in other parts of the country have been criticized for mandating that students use the facilities of the gender with which they were born.
Most Americans (59 percent) aren't comfortable with the idea of transgender students picking which bathroom or locker room to use, and think they should use the facilities of the gender they were born as, while 26 percent think they should be allowed to use the bathrooms and locker rooms of their preferred gender.
The new rules have gone all-in to push the “gender identity” ideology and transgender agenda by demanding that everyone in the school system must use the scientifically incorrect pronouns and made-up names preferred by a tiny minority of people who say they prefer to be treated as members of the opposite sex.
“The guidelines released today will help ensure every student and adult in the CPS family can participate in an environment of complete tolerance and respect,” CPS Chief Education Officer Dr. Janice K. Jackson said in a press release.
The transgender movement has strong totalitarian overtones that Americans don’t fully understand.
Did you think only women get pregnant? Or only women get abortions? Planned Parenthood and NARAL—ironically both pro-abortion organizations that self-identify as champions of women’s rights—may soon be trying to change your mind about that.
One signal comes from a little petition drive that goes by #protransprochoice. It urges both Planned Parenthood and NARAL to adopt language more “inclusive” of transgender persons and to acknowledge “gender-non-conforming” people. Both pro-abortion organizations, which have been longtime supporters of the LGBT lobby, tweeted back supportive replies.
The Obama administration has taken two extraordinary steps this week in their attempt to pander to so-called “LGBT Rights” activists, and both of them are getting huge backlash. From citizens, and from states.
First, Obama’s Social Justice Department announced they were filing suit against North Carolina over the state’s passage of HB2, which allows businesses to choose how they wish to operate their public bathrooms (as opposed to the Charlotte City Ordinance that required businesses to allow gender crossover in bathrooms and was the reason the state brought the bill up in the first place.)
Presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trumped warned of an 11 September-level attack led by refugees who enter the US with mobile phones funded by the so-called Islamic State.
In an interview with the National Border Patrol Council’s Green Line radio programme, Mr Trump answered whether or not he believed it would take a large-scale attack on US soil for Americans to “wake up” about border security.
“I do, I actually do,” he said. ““Bad things will happen - a lot of bad things will happen. There will be attacks that you wouldn’t believe. There will be attacks by the people that are right now that are coming into our country, because, I have no doubt in my mind.”
