John Lewis Voting Rights Act: Contact your Senators

H.R.4, or the “John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act” has passed the House and is currently with the Senate. While the bill’s title sounds nice, it’s a dangerous piece of legislation that would require states to get federal permission before implementing a broad range of potential election reforms.

Specifically, the Justice Department’s civil rights division, which is staffed with far-left, unelected ideologues, would be the group making decisions about individual states’ election procedures. Kay Cole James, president of the Heritage Foundation, calls it “a recipe for corruption.”

The Left says this bill is necessary to ensure free and fair elections. That’s not true. What this bill will really do is federalize our elections and place a few biased people in charge of them.

That’s not what our elections need—and it definitely won’t protect election integrity.
