Joni Eareckson Tada
Founder and CEO - Joni and Friends International Disability Center
Joni Eareckson Tada, the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Joni and Friends International Disability Center, is an international advocate for people with disabilities. A diving accident in 1967 left Joni Eareckson, then 17, a quadriplegic in a wheelchair. After two years of rehabilitation, she emerged with new skills and a fresh determination to help others in similar situations. She founded Joni and Friends in 1979 to provide Christ-centered programs to special-needs families, as well as training to churches. Joni and Friends serves thousands of special
-needs families through Family Retreats, and has delivered over 100,000 wheelchairs and Bibles to needy disabled persons in developing nations. Joni survived stage 3 breast cancer in 2010, yet keeps a very active ministry schedule.

Her new daily devotional,A Spectacle of Glory, contains fresh biblical insights from her battles with cancer and chronic pain. Joni also serves as General Editor of the new Beyond Suffering Bible, a special edition published by Tyndale for those who suffer chronic conditions and their caregivers. She and her husband Ken were married in 1982 and reside in Calabasas, California.
A Spectacle of Glory: God's Light Shining through Me Every Day
Do you ever wonder why God created you? The Bible spells it out plainly: God created you to showcase His glory—to enjoy it, display it, and demonstrate it every day to all those you encounter.

After nearly 50 years of living as a quadriplegic, and dealing with chronic pain on a daily basis, Joni has learned firsthand the importance of glorifying God through the toughest of situations. Through this devotional, Joni will help you discover how to put God’s glory on display—how to say no to complaining and say yes to daily following God down even the most difficult paths. Along the way, you will find great comfort and encouragement by focusing on the one who longs to lead and guide you every step of the way, every day.
The Texas Advanced Directives Act: Bad News for Americans with Disabilities!
Ten years ago, a severely disabled woman named Terri Schiavo was starved to death – U.S. courts upheld her husband’s decision that “Terri wouldn’t want to live this way,” and so she was removed from all life supports. Many empathized with the decision stating that Terri was not mentally capable of expressing her wishes. As I sat in my wheelchair outside the hospice facility where Terri was dying, I knew it was a watershed moment that would jeopardize the lives of all Americans with disabilities.
