At some universities around America, students have traded studying for finals for raucous anti-Israel protests. It’s vital that we pray amid the upheaval and public displays of hate.
Consider
College students around America have destroyed property, forcibly occupied their campuses for weeks at a time, and physically blocked other students (such as Jewish students or those who express support for Israel) from attending classes or studying at the library.
While some protests have sparked calls to police, others are supported or at least tolerated by faculty members and university administrations—despite brazen threats—and acts—of violence toward Jews. Chants at protest call Jews “baby killers,” tell Jewish students to “Go back to Poland,” and express support for more Hamas attacks. A Jewish student at UCLA was reportedly beaten unconscious, sparking violent counterprotests. Other Jewish students at different universities have reported being attacked as well.
The resurgence of open and violent antisemitism, often unpunished by universities, is an understandable point of fear for many Jewish families and students who are in college or will be attending soon.
Pray
Please pray the following prayer along with me:
Dear God,
Protect Jewish students and others on university campuses around America.
Convict the hearts of those who call for hate and violence.
Open the eyes of the young people who are swept up in the chaos of our time. Give them a clear understanding of right and wrong, along with a passion for righteousness.
Equip me and others with the courage to stand up for what’s right, even when it’s unpopular.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen.
Act
Thank you for praying for America today. Prayer is the most powerful thing we can do in any situation. To continue making a difference through your actions, consider these steps:
