Bauer served in President Ronald Reagan's administration for all eight years, as Under Secretary of Education and Chief Domestic Policy Advisor. After leaving the Reagan White House, Bauer became President of the Family Research Council and a Senior Vice President of Focus on the Family. Bauer took his pro-family, pro-life message across the country during the 2000 Republican presidential primaries and debates. Bauer served as a Trump appointee to the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom.For several years, he co-hosted the Bauer & Rose Show on the Sirius XM Network and the Bauer & Rose Podcast which was featured on Just The News.Today, he serves as President of American Values, an educational non-profit public policy organization, and as Chairman of Campaign for Working Families PAC, which is dedicated to electing conservative candidates to Congress. Bauer also serves as Senior Vice President of Public Policy for the Dr. James Dobson Family Institute.In 1973, Bauer received his law degree from Georgetown Law School in Washington, D.C.  He is married to the former Carol Hoke, and lives in Virginia. Larry Sand started his teaching career in New York in 1971. Beginning in 1985, he taught elementary school as well as English, math, history, and ESL in the Los Angeles Unified School District, where he also served as a Title 1 Coordinator. Retired in 2009, he is the president of the non-profit, non-partisan California Teachers Empowerment Network. CTEN was formed in 2006 because a wide range of information, from the more global concerns of education policy, education leadership, and education reform to information having a more personal application, such as professional liability insurance, options of relationships to teachers unions, and the effect of unionism on teacher pay, comes to teachers from entities that have a specific agenda. Sand’s comments and op-eds have appeared in the Associated Press, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Fox News, National Review, Real Clear Politics, Newsweek, Townhall Magazine, Frontpage Mag, Los Angeles Times, Los Angeles Daily News, The Christian Science Monitor, The Epoch Times, American Greatness, and other publications. In May 2011 became a regular contributor to City Journal, the Manhattan Institute’s policy publication.
