A Governor appointee, Livia Liu Francis has been practicing criminal law for the past 23 years. Her career started at the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office where she rose through the ranks prosecuting some of the worst offenders accused of crimes such as child abuse, sexual assault, aggravated robberies and murder. In 2005, Judge Francis was appointed by then Governor Perry to preside over Criminal District Court #7. During her tenure on this bench she presided over hundreds of felony cases. Judge Francis returned to the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office as an Administrative Chief in charge of training new prosecutors. Judge Francis trained over 200 attorneys for the District Attorney’s Office before leaving the office to go into private practice. Born in Lincoln, Nebraska and raised in Dallas, Texas, Judge Francis is the daughter of Charles and Catherine Liu. She is the oldest of four children. A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Judge Francis enjoys spending time with her nieces and nephews and traveling with her husband, Judge Robert Francis. A classically trained pianist and singer, Judge Francis is an avid reader and loves musical theatre.
