Ron Simmons

Senior Distinguished Fellow for Right on Work — Texas Public Policy Foundation

Ron Simmons is the son of two Arkansas public school teachers. He and his wife of 39 years, Lisa, have three adult children and two grandsons. Ron is a distinguished alumnus of Dallas Baptist University and the co-founder and former Chairman of Retirement Advisors of America (RAA) a $2.5 billion wealth management firm. He and Lisa are active members at Prestonwood Church in Plano. From January 2013 to January 2019 Ron served as the State Representative for House District 65 in Denton County. In his three terms in office, Representative Simmons proved to be a leader in policy areas such as transportation, disability rights, first amendment protections and tax reduction. Ron was appointed by Texas Governor Greg Abbott, to serve on the board of Texas Mutual Insurance Company, the largest provider of Workers Compensation Insurance in Texas. In February 2019, he joined the renowned public policy think tank, Texas Public Policy Foundation, where he serves as the Senior Distinguished Fellow for their Right on Work initiative.
