Greg Strause

Director | Producer | Visual & Technological Innovator — field_542d8190101fc

Greg Strause charted a meteoric rise in the film world since moving to Hollywood in the mid-90s, from self-taught visual effects wizard to renowned feature film director and producer. Greg founded VFX company Pixel Envy in 1996, creating visual effects for The X-Files, Band of Brothers, and Titanic. He then founded Hydraulx in 2002, and was awarded work on blockbuster films like The Avengers, Avatar, 300, Captain America, 2012, Iron Man 2, Battle: Los Angeles, San Andreas, Social Network, X-Men: Apocalypse, The Day After Tomorrow, Rampage and Netflix’s series Stranger Things S2. Greg co-directed Aliens Vs. Predator Requiem for 20th Century Fox Studios in 2007, which grossed over $130 million at the worldwide box office. Next he directed, produced, and financed the sci-fi action film Skyline for Universal Studios in 2010, launching a trilogy of independent films. In 2004 Greg created Lola VFX, the premier digital cosmetic retouching company in Hollywood. Lola VFX completed stunning age reduction work on Brad Pitt for Benjamin Button, Tom Cruise in the Mission Impossible franchise, as well as many films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Greg exited Lola VFX in 2014. Greg has been at the forefront of film making technology for decades, building his own data centers, architecting complex high speed storage area networks, and overseeing large teams of artists, software, and A.I. developers to create ground breaking technology. In recent years he has expanded his focus into machine learning and A.I. automation for consumer based apps. Greg’s first app on the market is FOY (Fountain of Youth), and it brings fully automated, Hollywood quality beauty retouching to the visual effects market.
