Grimes County Sheriff Don Sowell has had an impressive law enforcement career, and those who know him consider him a gentleman and lawman who proudly wears the badge. Sowell is a Grimes County native who graduated from Navasota High School, and after graduation, he joined the military and served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. In 1973, he was a Deputy Sheriff with the Harris County Sheriff's Office until in retired in 1998. He received his Master Peace Officer's certification in 1994 and is the 34th sheriff of Grimes County. He's also a lifetime member of the Sheriff's Association of Texas.
