Wybo N. is Dutch, married and has two grown children. He has a degree in Modern History. Currently the Chief Strategy Officer of Open Doors International, Wybo is over all the Field work of the whole organization. He started with Open Doors in 1985 as a researcher for the Soviet Union, then worked inside Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union. In 1991 he was responsible for ODI (Open Doors International) Global Research. During that year he set up the Open Doors World Watch List (https://www.opendoorsusa.org/christian-persecution/world-watch-list/about-the-ranking/) and https://www.opendoorsusa.org/christian-persecution/world-watch-list/, still the list to measure religious freedom on a global level. During that period (1991-97) he was responsible for expanding the work of Open Doors in Egypt, Iraq and Iran, while he also began the work of Open Doors in countries like Nigeria, Bangladesh, Indonesia and India. In 1997, he became the Open Doors Deputy Director for the Middle East region. From 2002-2014, he was the Regional Director for the Middle East region. Now he oversees all Open Doors’ projects worldwide to serve the persecuted church. Wybo’s many Soviet and Middle East adventures qualify him as a fascinating, inspirational speaker and one of great wisdom, never divulging secrets that would in any way harm his colleagues or the persecuted Christians he so courageously serves, yet informing his listeners on details of the intensely political and religious struggles in the Middle East and all the other regions he oversees for Open Doors.

Wybo Nicolai, founder of the World Watch List and former global field director Wybo Nicolai has had over 30 years of experience in the field, including five years in the Soviet Union and 17 years in the Middle East. He’s also the creator of the World Watch List, ranking the 50 most dangerous countries in the world to be a Christian. Wybo is Dutch and is married with two children. He has a degree in Modern History. Wybo joined Open Doors in 1985. He began as a Researcher on the Soviet Union. From 1988-1990 he worked in the Communication Department--Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union. In 1991, he was responsible for ODI (Open Doors International) Global Research. That year, he created the World Watch List, still the most widely distributed, accepted list to measure religious freedom on a global level. During the period 1991-1996 he was responsible for expanding the work of Open Doors in Egypt, Iraq, and Iran, while also starting the work of Open Doors in countries like Nigeria, Bangladesh, Indonesia and India. In 1996, he became the Open Doors Deputy Director for the Middle East region. In 2002, he was appointed as the Regional Director for the Middle East region. He stayed with the team for the Middle East for 18 years. In 2014 he joined the Executive Leadership of Open Doors, being responsible for all the Fieldwork globally. In 2019 he returned to his roots, and he was appointed as Senior Director of Global Research and Innovations.

In his role as CEO of Passages he will oversee their strategic direction, partnerships, and initiatives, ensuring the organization empowers young Christian leaders and deepens the connections between American and Israeli communities. Zachary Wagner is a writer, researcher, ordained minister––thinker of thoughts and feeler of feelings. Originally from the Chicagoland area, he now lives in Oxford, England, where he is pursuing a DPhil (PhD) in New Testament studies at Keble College, University of Oxford. He also serves as the editorial director of the Center for Pastor Theologians, where he co-hosts the CPT Podcast. His research interests include economics in the ancient world, divine wages in Second Temple Judaism and early Christianity, Pauline epistles, the Gospel of Matthew, and New Testament masculinities. His first book, Non-Toxic Masculinity: Recovering Healthy Male Sexuality, was published in 2023 with Intervarsity Press. Zach’s other writing interests include evangelical and “post-vangelical” Christian discipleship, theological formation, and speaking against church-based abuse.
