We have an opportunity to tell the truth and share the Gospel.

The number of Muslims in the United States is growing. Meanwhile, popular media personalities are spreading unhelpful lies about the history of Islam and Christianity. The truth is that Islam has historically persecuted Christians, and this persecution has not ended. 

Consider

Why does setting the record straight on this matter? First, accurate history matters. We should care about understanding the truth about the past, so that we can accurately understand human nature today. 

Second, radical Islam is still responsible for the deadly persecution of Christians in places like Nigeria. We need to accurately understand what other religions teach and how they interact with the world—not only for the sake of protecting of our Christian brothers and sisters, but for spreading the Gospel as well.

Of course, it is true that not every person who adheres to Islam endorses the radical and violent versions of Islam, or condones the persecution of other faiths. But all Muslims do need the truth and freedom found in accepting Jesus Christ as one’s savior. With more Muslims in the United States than ever before, we have an opportunity to share the Gospel with more and more Muslim neighbors. Will we take it?

Please pray the following prayer along with me: 

Dear God,

Protect and strengthen persecuted Christians in Nigeria and other places, where radical Islam poses daily threats and violence against Christians seems to go largely unchecked.

Fortify our minds against any lies or false versions of history that would cloud our thinking in the present. 

Embolden Your church to reach out to the Muslim population with the Gospel. Open the hearts of our Muslim neighbors to encounter Jesus as Savior
