Rick Townsend is a retired Air Force fighter pilot and airline pilot. His passion for aviation allowed him to fly aircraft as old as the T-33, as advanced as the F-15 and as large as the Boeing 777.

His other passions revolve around history, and the evidence for the Christian faith. This passion drove Rick to pursue a Ph.D. in History of Ideas from the University of Texas at Dallas. His 2021 dissertation centered on William Jennings Bryan’s focus on fundamental rights as a basis for his arguments in support of various social and political causes. A major portion of that research naturally included the Scopes trial.

Rick is using his retirement as an independent historian. He continues researching issues related to intelligent design and evolution, and leads seminars on the intersection of science and faith. These seminars center on evidence for the reliability, historicity and veracity of the Biblical narratives.
