Our first hour guest is John Stonestreet, president of the Chuck Colson Center for Christian Worldview. He discusses his book, A Practical Guide to Culture: Helping the Next Generation Navigate Today’s World.
In the second hour, we hear from Paul Barreca director of Fellowship International Mission in Allentown, PA. He tells us about his book, Follow the Master: A Discipleship Course for Growing Christians.
Since 2012, John and Eric Metaxas have co-hosted BreakPoint, the nationally syndicated radio commentary founded by the late Chuck Colson. He is also the voice of the Point, a daily one minute radio feature on worldview, apologetics and cultural issues.
Before coming to the Colson Center in 2010, John served various leadership capacities with Summit Ministries, and was on the Biblical Studies faculty at Bryan College (TN).
John has co-authored three books: Restoring All Things (with Warren Smith, 2015), Same-Sex Marriage (with Sean McDowell, 2014), and Making Sense of Your World: A Biblical Worldview (with Gary Phillips and William Brown, 2007).
John holds degrees from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (IL) and Bryan College (TN). He and his wife Sarah have four children and live in Colorado Springs, CO.
With biblical clarity, this is the practical go-to manual to equip kids to rise above the culture.
In the wake of last year’s election, many Americans decided to spend Thanksgiving with friends instead of family. This year, I suspect it will be even worse. After all, once Uncle Bill starts talking about President Trump, or Aunt Sally weighs in on transgenders in the military, or Cousin Phil announces why a Christian baker should or shouldn’t decorate a cake for a gay wedding . . . well, who knows what might happen.
Paul sensed the Lord’s call into pastoral ministry while he was a teen and entered full-time ministry at the age of 21. He studied at Word of Life Bible Institute, Lancaster Bible College, Michigan Theological Seminary and Clarks Summit University where he earned a Doctor of Ministry degree. He has taught in Bible colleges both in the United States and the Philippines, and is the author of “Follow the Master: A Discipleship Guide for Growing Christians.”
Paul and his wife Kim have three children and seven grandchildren and have been married since 1982. Contact Paul to learn more about discipleship or to have him speak to your church our group.
This course is designed to help you fulfill Christ’s call to “come and follow me” (Matthew 16:24). These 34 lessons provide the foundational beliefs and behaviors of a mature disciple. Even though this course was created for new Christians, those who have not been intentionally discipled will grow through these lessons. You can use this as a foundation for your own personal Bible study or better yet, study with another Christian or in a group of fellow believers to grow in your knowledge of the Bible and live as mature disciples of Jesus.
Many players sat, kneeled, raised fists or stayed inside locker rooms as the anthem played before each game, and as team owners encouraged players to express themselves. Others locked arms in a show of unity.
Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who remains unsigned, started the kneeling movement in 2016 to protest racial injustice in America. Activists and critics of the league believe Kaepernick has been blacklisted for his protests. On Sunday, players with the Miami Dolphins wore shirts that read "#ImWithKap" during pregame warm-ups.
