Cutting Woke Ideology
President Trump’s recommended budget for fiscal year 2027 includes substantial cuts to programs which, he says, “poison the minds of Americans.”
In releasing this budget, the White House Office of Management and Budget touted its plan to “eliminate funding for cultural Marxism.” OMB Chairman, Russell Vought, has directed his team to scrutinize agencies that advance transgender ideology, gay pride, and DEI — Diversity, Equity and Inclusion mandates.
It’s truly shocking to read The Daily Signal’s descriptions of just a few of the programs that have taken root and, thankfully, are now being defunded. One example is the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, which under this budget, will lose $106 million. This agency does things like funding telehealth at the Seattle Children’s Hospital to be used specifically “to Improve Access to Gender Affirming Care” for Black, Indigenous and People of Color and Rural Gender Diverse Youth. This agency’s extremist repertoire also features “an online tool called ‘Contraception for All’ to help females identifying as males choose contraception.”
The OMB found several education initiatives to cut or eliminate. The Daily Signal points to “$1.2 million for San Diego Community College’s LGBTQIA+ Pride Center.” And there are the Department of Education’s Equity Assistance Centers. Remember — equity is the opposite of equality. It blames racism and white supremacy when outcomes are not equal. These Equity Assistance Centers implement equity audits and other DEI practices, forcing them on local districts, mostly against their will.
The Daily Signal piece contains several more of the ways in which the Trump Administration is attempting to starve the woke programs that pollute our culture.
But it’s not just federal programs that need to go. Last week I attended a policy conference put on by the Texas Public Policy Foundation. I learned that states — even red ones — are finding it necessary to clean out deceptive and divisive DEI rot.
Let the cleanup proceed.
