Lynching
Wilfred Reilly has spent years exposing false narratives about racism and racist actions. In his latest article, he explains “What Happens When the Demand for Racism Exceeds Supply?". He makes the same argument in his book from many years ago with the title: Hate Crime Hoax: How the Left is Selling a Fake Race War.
The latest claims come from left-wing “Squad” member and Massachusetts Representative Ayanna Pressley. She used her website and the House.gov resource to “demand a thorough, transparent, and comprehensive federal investigation of the numerous incidents of Black people found hanging across the country.”
She refers to this as a national crisis. Lest you think this is a lone crusade, notice that her official letter on the topic sent to the DOJ and the FBI was signed by 59 of her congressional colleagues. And many in the legacy media have run with the claim there is an epidemic of lynching.
Before I go any further, it is worth mentioning that death involving a rope is the most common method of suicide. Sadly, most of us know individuals who killed themselves in that way and never considered that suicide to be a lynching.
In his article, Professor Reilly takes the time to deal with several of the cases often named. He also cites New York Times reporter John McWhorter who is also skeptical of the lynching narrative. McWhorter noted that eight of the ten cases mentioned this year have officially been ruled a suicide. In the other two, no white suspect has been named.
Reilly then asked the key question: “Is the United States actually facing a contemporary epidemic of lynchings?” His answer is “obviously not.” I encourage you to read his article. You will come to the same conclusion.
