Girl Scouts around the country are winning awards and earning patches for promoting the Islamic faith. An investigation by independent journalist Natalie Winters reveals that awards given for being a “Girl Scout of the Islamic Faith” have been created by the National Islamic Committee on Girl Scouting.“ Ms. Winters notes that the national Girl Scout organization’s, public posting says it approved the programs and allows their insignia on official uniforms.”

Ms. Winters reports that there are numerous Girl Scout troops operating out of mosques. She says these mosque-based troops are “embedding ‘Islamic values’ into Girl Scout programs across America.” She describes programs in Sacramento, San Diego, Long Island, Brooklyn and the Washington D.C. and Chicago areas, plus a dozen troops in Minneapolis. 

Under the Girl Scouts’ Bronze Award there’s an “All about Islam” patch in which Girl Scouts can complete the five pillars of Islam, including optional fasting for older girls.

There’s a Hajj Patch and a “Hajj Passport for completing a pilgrimage to Mecca. 

The troop at the Sacramento mosque hosted an event for “the broader Girl Scout community” which featured a “hijab photo booth.” 

There’s a patch named “Share Ramadan with a Friend.” 

According to Joshua Arnold, writer for The Washington Stand, this is “Muslim evangelism.” He says, the Girl Scouts’ approval of Muslim practice seems to go far beyond any favor it ever bestowed on Christianity.”

A spokesman for the Girl Scouts USA told The Daily Wire: “Girl Scouts is not a religious organization and does not teach religion.” 

Indeed.

Patti Garibay, founder of the of Christian Girl Scout alternative, American Heritage Girls, told the Daily Wire, “We watched the Girl Scouts move away from their Christian roots decades ago, removing references to God wherever they could.”

The Girl Scouts of the USA is allowing its brand to be used, not to encourage Muslim girls to adopt our norms, but to advance theirs.
