New Mexico Compound

Franklin Graham & Siraj Wahhaj-900
By: David French – stream.org – August 10, 2018

Imagine this news report.

National media exploded today with wall-to-wall coverage of the latest fringe right-wing threat to peace and public order. A sheriff raided a New Mexico compound. It was controlled by 41-year-old Roy Austin Graham. He is the son of Franklin and grandson of Billy Graham, both famous Christian evangelists. Alt-right leader Richard Spencer has called Franklin Graham his “mentor, motivator, and encourager.”

Police freed 11 children, all seriously malnourished. Police allege that Graham was training the children in the use of firearms. His goal was to use them in school shootings across America. Leading lawmakers in Congress have issued a ringing demand that President Trump pass their latest measures for gun control. They have called on the FBI to investigate politicized Christian hate groups. Critics of the Religious Right, on news programs aired on every network, pointed to the theological roots of terrorist violence in the New Testament, and historical Christian practice. They warned of the ongoing threat that political Christianity poses to America. The Southern Poverty Law Center lists many affiliated right-wing Christian groups as hate organizations.

A Few Minor Corrections

Okay, that’s not completely accurate. Let me correct it. Here you go:

News media were curiously quiet about the latest Islamic migrant threat to peace and public order. A sheriff raided a New Mexico compound. It was controlled by 39-year-old Siraj Wahhaj, Jr. He is the son of Siraj Wahhaj, Sr., a prominent Brooklyn imam with ties to the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. American Muslim activist and organizer of the January 2017 anti-Trump march Linda Sarsour has called the senior Wahhaj her “mentor, motivator, and encourager.”

Police freed 11 children, all seriously malnourished. Police allege that Wahaj was training the children in the use of firearms. His goal was to use them in school shootings across America. No lawmakers so far have called for tighter restrictions on immigration. Nor proposed that the FBI investigate Islamist organizations. Critics of political Islam, not invited on news programs by any network, pointed to the theological roots of terrorist violence in the Quran, and historical Muslim practice. They warned on their shadow-banned blogs and demonetized Youtube channels of the ongoing threat that political Islam poses to America. The Southern Poverty Law Center lists many groups critical of political Islam as hate organizations.

That’s better. That’s how things are supposed to work. Move along, nothing to see here.
