Prior to leading Texas Values, Jonathan headed the Liberty Institute offices at the Texas Capitol in Austin where he served as Director of Legislative Affairs and Attorney for Liberty Institute. John Smith’s true story inspired the film BREAKTHROUGH. Born in Guatemala, John was adopted by Brian and Joyce Smith at 5 months and moved with them to St. Charles, Missouri, where he currently attends high school. When John isn't at school, he enjoys spending time with his parents, three brothers and friends. Following high school, John plans to attend a local Christian university and train to become a pastor. After the events recounted in BREAKTHROUGH, John knows God has a purpose for saving his life and wants to share the message of God's love to the world.
