Sarah joins Heritage after serving as Senior Counsel to the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Education. Prior to her tenure at the Department of Education, she spent six years at the Family Research Council in Washington, D.C..
Before joining FRC, Sarah was in-house counsel and director of development for a Baltimore advertising agency. She began her practice at the litigation firm of Simms Showers. Sarah has a law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law. She holds a B.S. in Journalism with honors from Liberty University.
Her commentary and analysis have appeared in many media. She is the mother of three children, and the author of three books on the trials and triumphs of parenting children on the autism spectrum. Sarah is a member of the Kirkpatrick Society at the American Enterprise Institute, and makes her home north of Baltimore, Maryland.
With over 48 years of significant contribution and recognition in the pro-life movement, Brad Mattes is widely known in the United States and worldwide for his passion for the preborn and is the co-founder and president of Life Issues Institute.
Since 2003 he has been the host of the daily radio commentary Life Issues, heard on over 1,100 radio outlets nationwide. He has also hosted a wide variety of half-hour radio specials on topics ranging from men and abortion to the US Supreme Court.
Brad was also the host and executive producer of a weekly half-hour TV program Facing Life Head-On that ran for eight seasons garnering three Emmy Awards and other accolades.
His extensive media experience, and decades as a leader in the pro-life movement, uniquely qualifies him to cover breaking stories and impart foundational educational topics on the life issues.
