Victor Boutros is the CEO and a Founding Director of the Human Trafficking Institute and coauthor with Gary Haugen of The Locust Effect: Why the End of Poverty Requires the End of Violence, a book published by Oxford University Press in 2014. Drawing on real-world cases and extensive scholarship, The Locust Effect paints a vivid portrait of the way fractured criminal justice systems in developing countries have spawned a hidden epidemic of modern-day slavery and everyday violence that is undermining vital investments in poverty alleviation, public health, and human rights. Mr. Boutros previously served as a federal prosecutor who investigated and tried international human trafficking cases of national significance around the country on behalf of the United States Department of Justice’s Human Trafficking Prosecution Unit. He has taught human trafficking at the FBI Academy in Quantico, trained law enforcement professionals in the United States and other countries on how to investigate and prosecute human trafficking, and taught trial advocacy to lawyers from Latin America, South and Southeast Asia, and Africa. Mr. Boutros is a graduate of Baylor University, Harvard University, Oxford University, and the University of Chicago, where he was as an editor of the University of Chicago Law Review and received a grant to research human trafficking as a Human Rights Research Fellow. Dr. Vince Vitale was educated at Princeton University and the University of Oxford, where he also taught philosophy and theology -- briefly at Princeton and then for several years at Oxford. While an undergraduate student at Princeton, Vince journeyed from skeptic to believer after being challenged to read the Bible by two soccer teammates. Vince serves as Faculty Scholar at CEO Forum and was previously RZIM’s Regional Director for the Americas. He has co-authored two books—Why Suffering?: Finding Meaning and Comfort When Life Doesn’t Make Sense (2014) and Jesus Among Secular Gods: The Countercultural Claims of Christ (2017). While researching at Oxford, Vince developed a new response to the problem of evil. This response is discussed in book form with Oxford University Press as Non-Identity Theodicy: A Grace-Based Response to the Problem of Evil (2020). InterVarsity Press and Tyndale House selected Vince as IVP Young Philosopher of Religion of the Year 2013. In addition to his focus on biblical and cultural questions, Vince has strong interests in the topics of reconciliation, leadership, and theology of work, as well as in the intersection of faith and sport. He played varsity soccer at Princeton, was a “double Blue” at Oxford (competing for the university in soccer and boxing). Vince is married to Dr. Jo Vitale, who most recently served as a speaker and Dean of Studies at RZIM. Vince and Jo enjoy giving talks together, and trying (unsuccessfully!) to keep up with their young children, Raphael and Jonathan.

Virginia Prodan is an international human rights attorney, an Allied Attorney with the Alliance Defending Freedom, and a sought-after speaker. As a young attorney under Nicolae Ceausescu’s brutal communist regime, Virginia had spent her entire life searching for the truth. When she finally found it in the pages of the most forbidden book in all of Romania, Virginia accepted the divine call to defend fellow followers of Christ against unjust persecution in an otherwise ungodly land. For this act of treason, she was kidnapped, beaten, tortured, placed under house arrest, and came within seconds of being executed under the orders of Ceausescu himself. How Virginia not only managed to defeat her enemies time and again, but helped expose the appalling secret that would lead to the demise of Ceausescu’s evil empire is one of the most extraordinary stories ever told. Virginia Prodan‘s compelling story of courage in the face of intimidation and even death on behalf of others is a testament to her unwavering faith in a God who delivers.
