Hal is a graduate of Taylor University (‘71), and Dallas Seminary (ThM,‘78) and Denver Seminary (DMin,‘88). In his first ministry at First Baptist Church, Dallas, Hal taught the Medical-Dental Sunday School class and found himself immersed in a full-time ministry with medical and dental students, residents, faculty, and physicians and dentists in practice. During this ministry, he learned of the Christian Medical Society (CMS) through his mentor Haddon Robinson who was then part-time General Director of CMS while teaching at Dallas Seminary. Through his friendship with Joe Bayly, who followed Dr. Robinson as General Director of CMS, Hal then transitioned from the work at First Baptist Church to a full-time ministry with CMS. He first served as a regional director for TX, OK, KS, and NE, then as national staff director. He completed his tenure at CMS (now CMDA) by serving for 7 years as the General Director. He is a Lifetime Member of CMDA. In 1993 God led them to leave CMDA to become pastor at Dallas Bible Church when he served as senior pastor for 21+ years. Completing that ministry in 2015, Hal launched Finishing Well Ministries (FWM). FWM is a preaching, teaching, discipling ministry to seniors in churches and senior living facilities primarily in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. FWM is a 501c3 approved organization, an ECFA member, and operates under the authority of an excellent board. From a young age, Hannah Smith demonstrated a passion for education that would take her to Princeton as a student and teacher, to the Supreme Court as a religious liberty attorney, and ultimately to her beloved home in Southlake as an advocate for our schools. Hannah and her family have been proud residents of north Texas for seven years. In Southlake, Hannah has served our school, city, church, and Metroplex communities. She also proudly serves as a Board Member for both the DFW Alliance for Religious Freedom and the Religious Freedom Institute. Through the seasons of her professional life, Hannah has always cherished her role as wife and mother. Over the 23 years of their marriage, Hannah has encouraged her husband John as he supported our nation's defense--at the Bush White House, in the U.S. Army Reserve and National Guard, and as an executive in the aerospace and defense industry. Hannah and John are the parents of four Dragons who attend elementary, intermediate, middle, and high schools in CISD, the youngest of which will graduate in 2032. So, Hannah is passionate about helping our teachers to give our children the best education possible.

Hannah was raised in Houston, TX in a home where she was one out of ten children. Her parents graciously opened their home to many foster children throughout her life, and went on to adopt four of her now siblings. Her passion for the life discussion was formed through her belief in Genesis 1:27, that every life was made in the image of God, and through her very own home where her parents taught her to boldly live out a pro-life ethic. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Texas A&M University, and went on to earn a Graduate Leadership and Discipleship Certificate from the Kanakuk Institute. After the Kanakuk Institute, Hannah pursued a career at Sewell Automotives until the Lord called her to step out in faith and eventually join the team at Stand for Life. Hannah is now the Executive Director at Stand for Life, in Dallas, TX, where she and her husband Ben currently live.

Hans von Spakovsky is an authority on a wide range of issues – including civil rights, civil justice, the First Amendment, immigration, the rule of law and government reform -- as a senior legal fellow in The Heritage Foundation’s Edwin Meese III Center for Legal and Judicial Studies. As manager of the think tank’s Election Law Reform Initiative, von Spakovsky also studies and writes about campaign finance restrictions, voter fraud and voter ID, enforcement of federal voting rights laws, administration of elections and voting equipment standards. Heritage’s election reform project examines not only how to protect the integrity of campaigns and elections but to achieve greater fairness and security. “In an era of razor-thin election margins, these issues are vital to the preservation of our republican form of government and the rule of law,” von Spakovsky says. Previously, as manager of the think tank’s Civil Justice Reform Initiative, von Spakovsky studied how plaintiffs’ attorneys and activists attempt to manipulate the courts for their own ends -- at the expense of the public. He is the co-author with John Fund of the book “Who’s Counting?: How Fraudsters and Bureaucrats Put Your Vote at Risk” (Encounter Books, 2012) and “Obama’s Enforcer: Eric Holder’s Justice Department” (HarperCollins/Broadside June 2014).
