Many students around the nation headed back to school this week or are preparing to do so in the weeks to come. Join me in praying for parents, students, teachers, and school administrators. 

Consider

The last year has seen a backlash to many of the problems that have long been facing education. Multiple states have enacted bell-to-bell phone bans, and some are even prioritizing “old fashioned” paper books again over digital books and curriculum. And yet some others are heading in the opposite direction, incorporating AI tools—even robots—into the classroom. 

Meanwhile, it’s evident to many Americans that there is a crisis of meaning for many young people in this nation, who are hungry for truth and belonging, but often unsure of where to find it. 

As teachers face new changes surrounding technology and curriculum tools; as children head back into environments that should educate and stretch them in positive ways; as many families prepare to begin or continue their journey of home education, let’s pray for God’s wisdom, guidance, and protection over the next generation this school year.

Pray

Please pray the following prayer along with me:

Dear God,

Prepare the hearts of teachers to care for and nurture each child they are entrusted with this school year.

Prepare the minds of students to learn and embrace challenges.

For every child, please place in their path a trustworthy adult who shows them Your love.

Give parents, teachers, and school administrators discernment as they consider how and whether to implement new technologies and tools. Encourage them to make decisions that are best for children, not best for tech companies. 

Protect kids, families, teachers, and school staff physically, emotionally, and spiritually as they return to school this year. 

Motivate more Christians to step up in creative ways to help meet the educational needs of children and youth in their communities.
