We should pray for their safety.

Earlier this summer U.S. Supreme Court Justices Amy Coney Barrett and Elena Kegan spoke to Congress about the increased threats of and attempted violence that justices currently face. 

Consider

Justices Barrett and Kagan asked Congress for more security for the U.S. Supreme Court. Remember that one man is currently serving an eight-year prison sentence for attempting to assassinate Justice Brett Kavanaugh at his own home. 

The threats of violence have not been limited to those serving on the nation’s highest court. As The Wall Street Journalreported this month:

“In his 2024 year-end report, Chief Justice John Roberts said threats against judges had more than tripled in the last decade. Federal marshals had investigated more than a thousand threats against judges in the previous five years. Hundreds of federal judges have faced threats this year, and Justice Kagan said the Supreme Court police force is projecting a 38% threat increase this year on top of a 25% increase last year.”

Political violence in this country, including against those who serve in the judicial branch, is a dangerously growing trend. We should pray for the protection of our Supreme Court justices and other judges as well.

Please pray the following prayer along with me:

Dear God,

Please protect our nine U.S. Supreme Court justices. Thwart and reveal any plans evil and violent plans for their harm.

Protect federal judges and others who serve on courts around this nation from violence.

Encourage justices and judges to decide cases free of fear and any other corrupting influence. 

Give our Supreme Court justices and other judges in this nation wisdom, understanding, and discernment to mete out justice for the good of our nation.
