His book, Music in Ancient Greece, will be published with Bloomsbury next year. Some of his other writing can be found in the Atlantic, the Los Angeles Times, City Journal, and Newsweek. Spencer earned his bachelor's in Classics from Yale University and his doctorate in Greek and Latin Languages and Literature from Oxford University. In his free time he collects scotch whisky (no 'e'), plays video games, and tries with limited success to play the guitar.
