Cindy Brinker Simmons graduated from The University of Virginia and began a distinguished career in public relations that continued for over thirty-five years.In 1980, Cindy founded Wipe Out Kids Cancer (WOKC) in memory of her mother, the late great tennis champion Maureen "Little Mo" Connolly Brinker, who died of cancer in 1969 at age thirty-four. The mission of WOKC is to offer comfort and hope to kids with cancer through support programs serving the entire family, Additionally, WOKC has funded millions of dollars for innovative novel cancer research projects leading to new discoveries and treatments in the fight against pediatric cancer over the last forty-five years.Cindy is president of the Maureen Connolly Brinker Tennis Foundation, one of the largest private junior tennis foundations of its kind worldwide for talented and gifted players ages eight to twelve. Cindy oversees the "Little Mo" junior tournaments and the foundation's multi-dimensional focus on character attributes like good sportsmanship, kindness, and integrity. She has served on numerous non-profit boards and ministries and has received multiple awards for her leadership, volunteerism, and philanthropy including being honored in 2021 with the State of Texas “Governor’s Lifetime Volunteer Achievement Award.”Cindy enjoys spending treasured time with her family and friends, sharing her faith, and encouraging and serving others. She lost her beloved husband Bob to cancer in 2005. Her son William is pursuing his dream of filmmaking in Los Angeles.
