He graduated summa cum laude from Talbot Theological Seminary with a double Master’s degree in Theology and Philosophy. He earned a Ph.D. in Apologetics and Worldview Studies from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2014.
Sean is the author, co-author, or editor of over seventeen books including Same-Sex Marriage: A Thoughtful Approach to God’s Design for Marriage, with John Stonestreet, Is God Just a Human Invention? with Jonathan Morrow, and Understanding Intelligent Design along with William A. Dembski. Sean has also written multiple books with his father, Josh McDowell, including The Beauty of Intolerance, The Unshakable Truth and More Than A Carpenter.
For over twenty-five years, Candy has been an active volunteer at the state and local level. Governor Greg Abbott appointed Candy to serve on the Texas Juvenile Justice Board, where she served until recently. Her long history of service includes the Collin County CPS Board, the Collin County Parks and Open Spaces Board, and the State Republican Executive Committee. In 2016 Candy served as the Texas Electoral College Chair.
A strong proponent of education, Candy has a degree in Education from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene and serves on the university’s Board of Development.
Candy has been married to her husband Robert for 35 years and they live in Lucas. They have three grown daughters, three sons-in-law, and eight grandchildren, ages seven and under. Candy and Robert are active members of Prestonwood Baptist Church.
Rick Santorum is the author of the 2005 New York Times bestseller It Takes a Family, American Patriots: Answering the Call to Freedom, and Blue Collar Conservatives: Recommitting to an America that Works. Rick and his wife Karen are also the co-authors of Bella’s Gift that chronicles the inspiring story of life with the Santorums’ special-needs youngest child. Bella was born with a condition called Trisomy 18, and she wasn’t expected to survive her first birthday. Beating all the odds, Bella will turn 12 in May of 2020.
