Prior to joining the organization, Brown served as Chief Development Officer at global nonprofit Food for the Hungry, where he grew the total revenue by 16% to a FY22 total of more than $81 million, despite the inherent obstacles of the COVID-19 pandemic. This growth trajectory continues today. Without compromising the organization’s faith-based identity, Brown led the development of a fourth-sector, corporate engagement strategy, favorably positioning the organization to petition substantial USAID funding in coming years.
A graduate of Arizona State University, Brown holds dual Bachelor’s degrees in Business Management and English, and has completed post-graduate courses at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business.
His background includes time spent as a stockbroker, singer/songwriter, concert promoter, and for a short time, he ran a small Christian music record label.
In his pursuit of advocating for faith-based values, Scott played a pivotal role in establishing the Conservative Baptist Network. Additionally, Dr. Colter holds a position on the faculty of Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in Memphis, Tennessee.
Scott's professional journey includes several roles within higher education, having served as the director of advancement and later as the chief of staff at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Driven by a fervent passion for integrating faith in the public square, Scott is a staunch advocate for religious liberty and the sanctity of human life. These values not only guide his professional endeavors but also deeply influence his personal life. Residing primarily in Dallas, Texas, the Colters are active members of Prestonwood Baptist Church.
