He is the Executive Director of the American Constitutional Rights Union, a NewsmaxTV contributor, Senior Fellow of the Media Research Center, Senior Advisor to the Patriot Academy, and contributing columnist for Townhall and CNS News. LTC West is the author of Guardian of the Republic: An American Ronin’s Journey to Family, Faith, and Freedom, Hold Texas, Hold the Nation: Victory or Death, and We Can Overcome: An American Black Conservative Manifesto.
He is the former Executive Director of the National Center for Policy Analysis in Dallas Texas, and former Director of the Booker T. Washington Initiative at the Texas Public Policy Foundation.
In 2016, Lt. Col. West was appointed by Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick to the Texas Sunset Advisory Commission. In July of 2020, Mr. West was elected Chairman of the Republican Party of Texas. He was also a candidate for the Republican nomination for Texas Governor during the 2022 primaries.
West is an avid distance runner, a Master SCUBA diver, and in his spare time he enjoys cheering his beloved Tennessee Volunteers.
He is married to Dr. Angela Graham-West. They have two daughters, Aubrey and Austen. He is also the proud grandfather of Jaxton.
After leaving the Reagan White House, Bauer became President of the Family Research Council and a Senior Vice President of Focus on the Family.
Bauer took his pro-family, pro-life message across the country during the 2000 Republican presidential primaries and debates.
Today, Bauer serves as Chairman of Campaign for Working Families PAC, dedicated to electing conservative candidates to Congress, and as President of American Values, an educational non-profit organization. He writes a weekly column at Human Events and co-hosts a weekend talk show on Sirius/XM Radio.
In 1973, Bauer received his law degree from Georgetown Law School in Washington, D.C. He is married to the former Carol Hoke and lives in Virginia. Gary and Carol have three grown children.
