Recent data suggest that although 83% of young adults are hoping to get married eventually, 73% also report that getting married is too expensive.

While the decline in marriage has eased somewhat in recent years, the fact remains that in the U.S., the marriage rate has dropped by almost 60% over the last 50 years.

Across a wide age range, a record number of Americans are remaining single. Recent data shows that the average age for marriage for both men and women now hovers around 30.

While many in the media have covered the bankruptcy of Bed, Bath, and Beyond and its Buy, Buy, Baby stores, few talk about the larger, societal cause of the collapse of this long-time retail giant.

Before President Joe Biden signed the Respect for Marriage Act, the White House played footage of the Meet the Press interview in which he first came out in favor of same-sex marriage.

On Tuesday night, the U.S. Senate voted in favor of passing the Respect for Marriage Act by a vote of 61-36, just barely earning the 60 votes to overcome a filibuster.
