This morning the Supreme Court issued its 5-4 ruling for the marriage case. Through this ruling, five unelected justices have attempted to force their view of marriage on the entire nation. In this act they have nullified the votes of 50 million of our citizens who sought to protect the sanctity of marriage.
The four dissenting Justices each filed their own opinion. “This court is not a legislature. Whether same-sex marriage is a good idea should be of no concern to us,” wrote Chief Justice John Roberts.
For the first time in his ten years as Chief Justice, Roberts read a summary of his dissent from the bench. “If you are among the many Americans – of whatever sexual orientation – who favor expanding same-sex marriage, by all means celebrate today’s decision,” Roberts continued. “But do not celebrate the Constitution. It had nothing to do with it.”
The oral arguments for this case made it clear that this decision sets the stage for an intensified battle between gay rights and religious freedom. Point of View will continue to stand strong for biblical truth in our culture, equipping people across the nation in the fight to defend the religious freedom that formed the foundation of this nation.
We also encourage our listeners to renew their commitment to pray for our nation.
