Petr Jašek
Since 2002, Petr Jašek has worked with The Voice of the Martyrs (VOM) to help aid and assist persecuted Christians in hostile and restricted nations. In December 2015, Petr’s life changed dramatically when he was arrested at the airport in Khartoum, Sudan, after meeting with Christians there to evaluate how VOM could best serve them. Petr became a prisoner himself, needing VOM’s help for himself and his family. Petr was convicted of espionage and sentenced to life imprisonment, before the Czech government negotiated his release in February 2017.

Throughout Petr’s 445 days in prison, VOM and Christians around the world stood with his family through prayer and other means of support. When Petr was released from prison, he returned to his wife, Wanda, and two grown children in the Czech Republic.
Imprisoned with ISIS: Faith in the Face of Evil
As a child, Petr Jasek (Peter Yash-eck) watched Soviet tanks roll through the streets of his village in Czechoslovakia, taking the country by force and subjecting it to decades of Communist oppression. Petr grew up in the underground church and benefitted from financial help and Bibles smuggled in to his family. As an adult living in the free Czech Republic, Petr chose to begin serving persecuted Christians—especially in Islamist hotspots in Africa and the Middle East. In 2015, he was arrested in Sudan, convicted as an enemy of the state, and sentenced to life in prison, where he was forced to share a group cell with ISIS terrorists. The true story of what God did in and through Petr has already inspired tens of thousands around the world. Now, for the first time, Petr tells the whole story.

Iona Rossely
Author | Speaker | Animal Lover - Lay Minister for the Anglican Church in Australia
Sporting champion Iona Rossely excelled in the adrenaline-fueled world of speed skiing, winning the Ladies British Overseas Champion and New Zealand Ladies Champion titles. After a life-threatening speed skiing accident in the World Championship qualifiers, Iona moved into training and competing in endurance horse racing. Here she successfully represented Ireland for several years and competed in the World Championships, World Equestrian Games and the European Championships.

Iona also acted as Formula 1 PR representative, produced and presented a video “Learn to Ski the Fast way” for Virgin Videos and worked as a freelance television sports presenter.

Iona is now a lay minister for the Anglican Church in Australia, an artist, speaker and avid animal lover and her passion is sharing her testimony on how God gave her a new life – one of freedom, peace and joy.

Prior to writing her new book, ‘Racing on Empty’, Iona was the Coordinator of the Global Sustainability Network (GSN), an inter faith led organisation relating to anti-slavery and the United Nations Sustainability Development Goal 8. She has organised high profile events at Lambeth Palace, the Vatican, Westminster Abbey and most recently the United Nations New York.
Racing on Empty
Iona lives to compete
She represented Great Britain in speed skiing and rode on the Irish Equestrian Team. Driven by a desire to find herself, a rebellious and slightly wild Iona harnessed her sporting abilities to find purpose, hope and meaning. But even after many successes and failures Iona realized that having everything she dreamed of still left her feeling broken and empty. Whilst competing in France she fell at one hundred and sixty kilometers an hour and shattered her leg in eight places. Statistically, she should have died at this speed, but miraculously survived. After an eight-hour operation Iona now had one plate and 28 screws holding her right leg together. The life that she knew came to a grinding halt. Doctors told her that she would never be able to do sports again and would always walk with a limp. Undaunted Iona moved to the Middle East to work in public relations with Rothmans Williams Renault Formula One Team and to pursue her love for horses -first in showjumping and then in endurance racing representing Ireland in the World Championships and World Equestrian Games. After several successful years on the Irish Team, Iona’s life took an unexpected turn. Was this the answer to finding peace, hope and purpose?
