Well, it’s the day after Christmas but we now know who ended up getting a lump of coal in their stocking. And quite simply, this was a very well-deserved present from the United States to the United Nations, as it has long been obvious…they have always been naughty, rarely nice.

As reported by the NY Post, “UN Ambassador Nikki Haley announced Sunday that the United States negotiated a $285 million cut in the United Nations’ “bloated” budget for next year. “The inefficiency and overspending of the United Nations are well known,” Haley said in a statement from the US Mission. “We will no longer let the generosity of the American people be taken advantage of or remain unchecked.” 

Haley added that the “historic reduction” in spending is a step in the right direction and that the US would make many other moves toward a more efficient and accountable UN. “In addition to these significant cost savings, we reduced the UN’s bloated management and support functions, bolstered support for key US priorities throughout the world and instilled more discipline and accountability throughout the UN system,” the statement said. 

The new deal for the 2018-2019 fiscal year is $285 million less than the world body’s staggering $5.4 billion budget for fiscal year 2016-2017. The ambassador went on to say that she hopes to help make even more reductions in the UN’s budget in the years to come. Haley’s announcement came just days after she slammed the UN for “singling out” the United States and voting on a resolution to oppose President Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.”

Now, you can bet your bottom dollar that the progressive socialist left is steaming mad about this decision, but why? Are we to believe that the sovereign United States of America is somehow subservient to the UN? For the UN to have voted on a resolution pertaining to a law passed and signed in America is absurd. For the UN to condemn the United States for deciding where our embassy should be located based on a law from 1995 is unconscionable, unacceptable.

And herein lies the problem with these progressive global body politics such as the UN and the European Union (EU). The collectivist bodies believe they are superior to the sovereignty of established nation-states that comprise their very being. It’s as if the monster created by these sovereign states now is roaming the countryside terrorizing those for whom it owes its creation. The United Nations has no business imposing its determinations on the governing of a member state. What the UN has become is an organization reflective of a certain political philosophy, progressive socialism, and sees its raison d’être using its position to decide global winners or losers.

As well, it is the UN who once supported the establishment of the State of Israel, that now has reversed its decision, seeking to undermine Israel. A thousand years before Roman Emperor Hadrian introduced the term “Palaestinia” to the region known as Judea, there existed Jerusalem, the capital of the Jewish nation. It appears that the collection of despots, dictators, and autocrats known as the UN has now decided to reject history, and revise it in favor of their declared victims, nomadic Arabs who have successfully hijacked the designation of Palestinians.

Therefore, based on the insidious vote held by the UN last week, Ambassador Nikki Haley is spot on in being a good steward of the American taxpayer dollar. I would hope that this $285 million budget cut to the UN is just the beginning. The message is simple: there are consequences now to the corruption and cronyism that permeates the UN. It will no longer be funded by the American taxpayer. And perhaps, the UN can move their headquarters to Gaza Strip or Ramallah in the West Bank? Gone are the days that the US will play the duped dunce, paying for 22 percent of the UN budget while being disrespected and disregarded by this collective organization of incompetents.

Why does the left in America find fault with the Trump administration’s strong stance against the UN? Simple, they love the UN, as all progressive socialists who have a sick love fest with the Islamo-fascists. It’s easier for the liberal progressive leftists in America to find fault with their own country while giving the UN a pass. The leftists in America are in full agreement and alignment with the global leftists, they are indeed comrades in arms.

Why didn’t we hear any dissension from the left when it was Barack Obama supporting the Muslim Brotherhood government in Egypt? Why were the leftist voices silent when the Obama administration was threatening Israel to cut off support as they fought against Hamas and its attacks emanating from Gaza? And we know that the left, and the UN, were more than pleased with the Iranian nuclear agreement…an agreement with the world’s number one supporter of Islamic terrorism. Where is the UN resolution against Iran?

I applaud Ambassador Nikki Haley. She, as previously stated, is the top performer in the Trump administration. Her words are concise and to the point, and she follows them up with action. Ambassador Haley doesn’t speak of “red lines” that have no meaning. This is about a 47 percent cut to the US contribution to the UN budget, and it is well deserved, and necessary.

Anyone disagreeing demonstrates their desire to see our America subjugated before this global body politic of inefficiency and incompetence. Then again, that’s the mantra and modus operandi of progressive socialists…as well as tyranny.
