She is the author of the New York Times bestseller Useful Idiots, she writes a critically acclaimed syndicated column that appears in more than 200 newspapers, and she is a contributor to National Review. Her life tracks nearly perfectly with the modern feminist movement. Charen explains, “I’ve been living in its shadow all of my life. Germaine Greer and Betty Friedan were the secular saints of my time. I’ve had both a successful career and a full family life and I don’t hesitate to put family first. Monica Martinez is a wife, mother, mentor and passionate advocate for girls, women and the unborn. Concerned for the overall physical, emotional, and spiritual effects of an unplanned pregnancy that many girls and women face, Monica found herself compelled to serve this population in some way. What began over 8 years ago as a volunteer position at her local pregnancy center quickly became a fulltime position working closely with both clients and volunteers. Monica currently serves as Director of Client Services at the Pregnancy Resource Center of Tracy, in Tracy, California. Serving girls and women has been a passion of Monica’s for over two decades. Teaching women’s bible studies, parenting classes, prolife ministry training and mentoring women of all ages through Christian lay counseling are just some of the ways that Monica has come alongside them. Monica is involved in both her community and church where she serves on the board. Monica was also a homeschooling mom for 11 years, to her two now adult daughters. Married for nearly 27 years, Monica and her husband Sal have also encouraged married couples through marriage ministry. Although Monica finds herself in many different roles, her greatest and most treasured is Follower of Jesus Christ.
