Today is the 75th annual National Day of Prayer. The organization’s theme for the year is, “Glorify God among the nations — seeking Him in all generations.” It’s based on 1 Chronicles 16:24: “Tell of his glory among the nations, His wonderful deeds among all the peoples.” (NASB)

Consider

This year’s theme for the National Day of Prayer is appropriate. First of all, America is involved globally, most notably in the ongoing situation in Iran. We must continue praying for wisdom and just actions on the part of our leaders and military members as they make decisions that impact not only our own nation, but others as well. 

Second, the theme of “seeking Him in all generations” is relevant since many members of Gen Z are expressing openness to spirituality, interest in Jesus, and in some cases, a growing interest in church and traditional family values. At the same time, a remarkably small percentage of Gen Z hold a biblical worldview. 

We must pray earnestly that God will be glorified around the world, and that more people, including members of the rising generations, will come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Pray

Please pray the following prayer along with me:

Dear God,

Thank you for our long history of prayer as a nation. Please move in the hearts of Christians today to take time to pray for America.

Provide wisdom to America’s leaders and military members who are involved in operations overseas. 

Protect Christians around the world and equip them to effectively share Your gospel so that You are glorified in the nations! 

Continue stirring the hearts of young people in our nation and globally, so that they may seek and find You.
