On Monday I talked about Rededicate 250, an event that took place at the National Mall in Washington, D.C. last week. Multiple speakers highlighted the biblical values held by our Founders, and a theme of the event was the need to rededicate the United States to God.

Consider

How does a nation dedicate itself to God? It starts individually. As I highlighted in clips on Point of View on Monday, more than one speaker referenced the lyrics of an old hymn:

O Lord, send a revival!
Lord, send a revival!
O Lord, send a revival,
And let it begin in me!

If we want to see a rededication of our nation to God, it must start in our hearts. It must take root in our lives and bear fruit in our communities.

John Adams famously observed that “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” That is why, if we want to see our constitutional republic continue, we must become that “moral and religious people” once again.

I encourage you to seek God in your personal life and pray that he will reveal areas of your life you need to rededicate to Him.

Please pray the following prayer along with me:

Dear God,

Thank you for this nation, including Founders who, though imperfect, acknowledged America’s need for your guidance.

Lord, I repent of areas in my life where I am not serving you, and I ask forgiveness for myself. I also ask for forgiveness on behalf of my nation, for the ways in which Americans have not honored you.

Start a revival and begin with me! Revive my commitment to living for you in every area of life, and reveal ways that I may serve you better in my community.
