Tragically, most addicts shared needles, contracted HIV, and many succumbed to AIDS. They were my brothers and sisters. My new book, ‘Shooting Up’ not only serves as a firsthand account of the heroin and AIDS crisis during those years, but as a tale of love and compassion and loss. It’s a love letter to friends and family ... and even learning.”

Joe Arlinghaus runs an election project called Valor America Super PAC which began as a pro-life federal election project but which has become defined for its innovative use of new data analysis methods invented in the Obama years by Democratic scientists. His team was called by Newt Gingrich "the first conservative effort to master the science of data and experimentation" and they continue to study the science of the Left in a way still mostly not done by Republicans. The Valor America team ran the most successful outreach effort to Hispanic voters ever using their innovative testing and targeting and have ongoing tests for the 2026 election to find what messages can best help their favored candidates to win. Though the work of Valor America is often on secular election subjects, Joe has won over a large number of Evangelical supporters and also more conservative Catholics too. He believes politics must be understood and pursued through a biblical and Christian lens. He rejects atheist and libertarian dominance in Republican politics. Joe is a Roman Catholic from the growing orthodox wing of young American Catholics. He studied political philosophy at the University of Dallas in the 1980s. He often speaks on the need for political alliance between conservative Catholics and evangelicals and he is very comfortable discussing the political and theological debates among Catholics and more broadly among Christians in America. He has been interviewed a lot recently regarding crticisms of President Trump by the Pope and vice versa. He has been a big fan of Kerby Anderson and Point of View for thirteen years.
