Michael Farris is the Chancellor of Patrick Henry College and Chairman of the Home School Legal Defense Association. He was the founding president of each organization. Farris graduated from Western Washington State College, magna cum laude, with Bachelors in Political Science, followed by a Juris Doctorate from Gonzaga University (with honors). At Gonzaga, Farris was the Articles Editor of the Law Review, and was the winner of the Linden Cup Moot Court Competition. Recently, Farris earned an LL.M. in Public International Law from the University of London. Farris has specialized in constitutional appellate litigation. In that capacity Farris has argued as lead counsel before the Supreme Court of the United States, eight federal circuit courts of appeals, and in the state Supreme Courts and appellate courts of thirteen states. Additionally, Farris is the author of numerous amicus briefs before the United States Supreme Court. Farris has been a fixture on Capitol Hill for over 30 years, having testified before Congress on numerous occasions in both the House and Senate. Farris was the Co-Chairman of the Coalition for the Free Exercise of Religion that successfully lobbied Congress for the passage of the Religious Freedom Restoration Act. He has been a leading advocate for the sovereignty of the United States with his successful opposition to various United Nations treaties which seek to control the domestic policy of the United States.

Michael P. Farris is a litigator, educator, public advocate, and communicator, and is widely recognized for his successful work on both the national and international stage. He was founding president of both the Home School Legal Defense Association (1983) and Patrick Henry College (2000). He served as the President and CEO of Alliance Defending Freedom from 2017 to 2022. In “semi-retirement,” he serves as General Counsel to the National Religious Broadcasters and consults with the Convention of States Project. For over 40 years, Farris has practiced constitutional appellate litigation specializing in religious freedom and parental rights. In that capacity, he has argued before the appellate courts of thirteen states, eight federal circuit courts of appeal, and the Supreme Court of the United States. Mike was CEO of Alliance Defending Freedom while ADF served as co-counsel to the Attorney General of Mississippi for the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health which reversed Roe v. Wade. For his work in homeschooling, Farris was named one of the Top 100 Faces in Education of the 20th Century by Education Week. He has also been recognized with lifetime achievement awards by the Heritage Foundation, the Family Foundation of Virginia, the Florida Family Policy Council, the Convention of States Project, the Association of Classical Christian Schools, and has received two honorary doctorates. Michael R. Egnor, MD, is Professor of Neurosurgery and Pediatrics at the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University. He received his medical degree from the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University and trained in neurosurgery at the University of Miami. He has been on faculty at Stony Brook since 1991. He is the neurosurgery residency director and has served as the director of pediatric neurosurgery and as vice-chairman of neurosurgery at Stony Brook Medicine. In addition to a full-time neurosurgical practice, he directs a research program on intracranial dynamics, cerebral blood flow and hydrocephalus and has lectured at scientific meetings worldwide and published in leading medical journals including the Journal of Neurosurgery and Cerebrospinal Fluid Research. He has a strong interest in Thomistic philosophy, philosophy of mind, neuroscience, evolution and intelligent design, and bioethics and has published and lectured extensively on these topics. Mike had the great privilege of being born into a Christian home in Louisville, Kentucky with parents who modeled a consistent Godly lifestyle. Though he at times challenged the faith of his parents, God graciously brought him to a saving knowledge of himself as a young man. In college, Mike was deeply impacted by a college ministry called the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and felt a call towards ministry. Following college, God graciously directed Mike to a strong local church in Denton Texas where he initially studied under the Pastor for a year before joining the church. Mike’s plans were always smaller than God’s and he desired to return to his home area to pastor a local church. God chose to keep him in Texas, allowing him to attend the University of North Texas, earning an MBA in 1994; and Dallas Theological Seminary where he earned a Masters of Theology in 2003. In Texas he also met and married the love of his life, Kerry and they now have three teenaged boys. Mike left the business world and joined Denton Bible’s staff in 1999 and has served there working in Missions since that time. Mike is a testimony of God’s gracious care for His children as God has guided Mike through his life, giving him much more than he ever could have expected or imagined. Mike currently serves as the missions pastor at Denton Bible where he loves to speak of God’s goodness and especially feels blessed to serve alongside and teach other men involved in ministry around the world.
