Dr. Todd Cartmell earned his doctorate in clinical psychology from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA. He then moved to Columbus, OH, where he completed a postdoctoral fellowship with Wright State University at the Children’s Hospital. Since then, he has done clinical work at Summit Clinical Services in Wheaton, IL, where he continues to see children, teens, and families on a full-time basis. He has written five parenting books (faith based). His latest book (general audience) which is soon to be released is an ebook titled: Raising Flexible Kids. He has presented many parenting workshops at mom’s conferences (Hearts at Home, MOPS International), MOPS groups, churches, and schools, which you can read about on the Workshop page. He has also recently developed a skill-building game for kids called The Flexible Thinking Game (see the Store page).

Dr. Tom Catena, a Catholic native of Amsterdam N.Y., wanted to be a medical missionary since high school. In 2000 he went to Kenya, In 2008, he moved to the Nuba Mountains in Sudan to become the first, and only doctor, at the new Gidel Mother of Mercy Hospital, where he is still works as the hospital’s medical director. Dr. Catena is the only surgeon for 1.3 million people in a region nearly twice the size of Massachusetts. As a medical missionary, he put his life on the line living in the middle of the war-torn and besieged Nuba Mountains, a territory fiercely contested by its inhabitants and the former government of Sudan. Dr. Catena is the only surgeon for 1.3 million people in a region nearly twice the size of Massachusetts. When the fighting in the region started in 2011, most expatriate workers fled. Dr. Catena insisted on staying. Dr. Catena is currently chairing African Mission Healthcare’s Nuba 2020 campaign to ensure the only major hospital in Sudan’s war-torn Nuba Mountains continues to treat and save thousands of children and adults threatened by conflict, disease, and medical emergencies 365 days a year. He is married to Nasima Catena, a native of the Nuba Mountains and a nurse at Mother of Mercy Hospital. The couple is in the process of adopting a child.

PFC Modder’s Military occupation was a 0341 Mortarman. Upon graduation from Infantry Training School, he reported to Sea School at MCRD San Diego, CA in 1985. His duty stations include: the Marine Detachment on the USS Carl Vinson CVN 70, 3rd BN 7th Marines (deployed to Okinawa as a part of the Unit Deployment Program, with an additional deployment on the USS San Bernardino), Marine Corps Recruiting Sub-Station Flint, MI. As a Sergeant with Military Police Company 4th Marine Division Headquarters and Service Battalion, Fort Snelling, MN, Sgt. Modder participated in Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm, which took him from Camp LeJeune to Saudi Arabia in 1990. While serving as a Marine in Okinawa, Sgt. Modder experienced his calling at the Camp Hanson Chapel to full time ministry. In 1999 he was commissioned a United States Navy Chaplain at the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade.
